Thanks for the tip! I just finished reading Mastering the Art of Soviet Cooking and was fascinated by the description of salad olivier. We will definitely try that next time.

Pickles appetizer is good, and goes well with vodka. Salad olivier is a Russian classic dish – a calling card if you will. It was also quite good. Beet salad is delicious, with just right amount of horseradish. Also, make sure to order Russian black bread – we thought it was quite right!

As Russians we can vouch for the authenticity of the food. Next time order a small carafe (200 ml) of vodka for two. Start with a shot before your meal, and then have two more throughout the meal – always an odd number, never ever even. Za zdorovy’e :)
